If you have never met M0ZIF before, Martin suffers from the following health problems: Lyme Disease, ME. CFIDS, Aquired Muscular Dystorphy as well as Dyslexia and dyspraxia. Lyme disease is a little known illness, Inside the Lyme Epidemic is a good book on lyme. Whilst lyme not a commonly known disease and in chronic* cases can prove to be fatal. Martin will not give up, and would rather spend his time helping others than moping about his health. So please spread the word.

This site will cover the day to day ongoing running of my Amateur Radio Station Mike Zero Zulu India Foxtrot, electronics projects and other ongoing things that are relevant to the hobby including book reviews and equipment reviews. For users reference: Each section in the navigation bar (left) has it's own title page, and subpages, the more you browse the more you will find. I hope you will enjoy this site and visit regularly, or why not subscibe to the Station RSS feeds? I am an RSGB Tutor and lead instructor for Morecambe Bay ARS, I am also the Communications Officer for the club too.
Many people seem to think that 2 meters is the best band for RagChewing, and 6 meters for near distant work when the band is open. Personally I am an advocate of the 4m 70mhz Band (or as its known outside the UK "The Oddly British Band") I find the clarity better than both 6 meters and 2 meters. Due to the fact that less people use 70mhz there is always space on the band. If your in the area drop me a call

I am interested in QRP, building rigs, and Microwave (although I haven't got any microwave kit yet). I also enjoy building antenna's. Whilst my health isn't upto going hillwalking at the moment I still enjoy S.O.T.A (Summits On The Air) my log for S.O.T.A can be found here.
My current setup consists of the following:
- Yaesu FT290R 2 meter multimode x2
- Yaesu FT8900R Quad band FM / AM
- Philips FM1100 4 meter FM Native
- Philips FM1100 4 meter FM PA4DEN Conversion
- Pye Westminister 4 meter FM
- Kenwood TS480 SAT
- PW MEON Transverter from 10mhz to 70mhz all mode
- Softrock SDR 20/30 meter multimode
- ASA Pakratt PK-232MBX TNC (with Mailboxes)
- CT ASIA Morse Key
I also have a full interface for the TS-480SAT so I can run both the FT290R and the TS-480 in Datamodes, The TS-480 is being controlled Ham Radio Deluxe on a Dual Core TC-3100 HP Server, running windows 2003 server*, which is also running the Pakratt TNC. The FT8900 is programmed by another PC running Vista and FTB8900 which is a great memory programmer. I can also access the TS-480SAT remotely via static IP and often do so when out and about thanks to my netbook.
* The reason for Windows 2003 server is simple, it allows me to test and deploy web applications before I deploy them to the live server
I have currently the following NoV's on my licence, 70mhz Internet Link, 5mhz trial.
Other Interests other than just communicating.
I am also a self confessed Soldering Iron Junkie, I am not a person that decides just to go out and buy a new radio for no reason, I'd rather build or repair one. So if your one of those people who has a radio fault and doesn't know what to do with it, and are fed up of massive repair bills why not ask me?
I also make up cabling for many different radios, including power looms, remote head kits, TNC to radio leads. So if your looking for something please contact me.
